Purple Fairy Crumpet Spring Challenge Day 23 - Spring Stripes!

Evening lovely ladies! I hope all you British ladies are enjoying the sunshine! It's sooo beautiful here, I've been able to pull out my lovely summer dresses! Hooray!

Today's Spring Challenge was Spring Stripes!

I've wanted to do this mani for ages and it didn't translate onto that nail like I saw it in my head. It looks kind of retro which I think is cool, but it's not really my style. :) I used Zoya Cho from the Zoya True Collection which is a super beautiful yellow/peachy toned beige with a really pretty hidden shimmer which you can JUST ABOUT see in the photos. I really love it. I have quite a pale yellowy skin tone so it's just the right colour for me .

The stripes didn't go as neat as I'd like. BOOO. I use sticky labels because then you can just peel the shapes you've cut out before you need them, but I was a bit careless with this because my boyfriend was hassling me to play Space Crusaders O.o

I used - For the Base:

Zoya - Cho

Stripes from thumb to little finger:

China Glaze - Dance Baby
Orly - Frisky
Accessorize - Ultra Violet
Collection 2000 Hot Looks - Hip Hop
Chick Nails - Gavie Green

Teal Tuesdays! Animal Print - Nerdlaquer Event Horizon

Hallo! Hooray for Teal Tuesdays! For this I used one coat of Nerdlaquer Event Horizon over two coats of Cult Nails - Let Me Fly. I stamped with A-england - Excalibur and did the little dots with Accessorize - Ultraviolet and Orly - Frisky. YAY!

Please check out my fellow teal lovers!

Sunday Stamping Challenge - Black and White - A-england Bridal Veil!

Hello lovelies!

The Sunday Stamping Challenge in the Adventures in Stamping Group on facebook this week was 'black and white'.

I actually did this mani on Sunday, but never got round to posting it until today, so I'm very sorry about that. I can't wait to be not so busy! Phew! :) I used the STUNNING, GORGEOUS, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING a-england Bridal Veil as a base, and China Glaze - White on White for the stripes. I also used Konad Special Stamping Polish in White. Do you use any other polish for stamping? I find that Konad is pretty much the only stuff I can get along wth for stamping other than a-england Excalibur which I use for silver stamping. I really need to find some polishes that stamp well, because I feel like I only have a limited stamping colour palette. Any ideas? I've tried really had to capture the beautiful scattered holo in Bridal Veil, but it's quite elusive even in the sun.

Sorry about the slight tipwear in these photos. I had this on for just over a day before taking pictures - and I did a lot of cleaning whilst wearing this mani! It help up well to my dusting and hoovering fury! :)

I did the striped with strips of sticky labels - I always use sticky labels rather than tape because I find that then you can cut out everything you need before hand and just have shapes there to peel off when you need to use them! The plate is Konad M87 and I added some extra dots with my smallest dotting tool.

What do you think?

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 22 - Butterfly!

I really liked this until I saw how awesome all the other blogger's butterflies were!  Lots of them did butterfly wing nails which I've never seen before and are simply stunning!

So - for this I used Revlon - Watermelon Fizz WHICH SMELLS LIKE WATERMELONS!!! A lot of people seem not to like the smell, but I love it, and I have the same problem that I had when I wore  Revlon - Grapefruit Fizz - I keep smelling my fingers and looking like a weirdo! :)

Anyway, I love this colour - it's really bright and juicy and squishy and makes me look really tanned! I took some pictures in the sunshine today! That's right... SUNSHINE! In dreary old Plymouth! I'm going to go out and enjoy it later, once I've written some more of my dissertation (boooo).

Look at the pretty gold shimmer!!!

I used:

Revlon - Watermelon Fizz
Konad Special Stamping Polish - White

For the butterfly -
China Glaze - White on White
Rimmel - Strawberry Fizz (also scented - like Strawberries!)
Hot Looks Collection 2000 - BMX Bandit
Sinful Colors - Island Coral
Kleancolor - Aurora

I used the Kleancolor to do the teeny tiny bit of glitter on the butterfly - I managed to fish out a single piece of large hex glitter to put under the pink spot. I'm quite pleased with myself about that ^_^ The butterfly is done freehand with a teeny brush and some dotting tools.

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 21 - Subtle Glitterbomb!

This is my not so subtle 'subtle flakie spring glitterbomb'!

This is definitely NOT the kind of thing I would usually do - I'm normally a more of a cutsie kind of a girl and these are a bit demure for me. Saying that, I kind of love them! I bought Models Own - Indian Ocean on a whim and used it in this manicure and it's just stunning. I tried it on its own first and it's probably too sheer to wear alone, but I layered it over Urban Decay - Graffiti which is a vintage purple/blue duchrome and just LOVED it! Indian Ocean is a blue/pink glass flecked duochrome from Models Own's beetlejuice collection. It's described as 'Indian Ocean, a calming, iridescent blue with soft pink undertones' but the flakies have a gold shimmer in some lights too. It's lovely.

On the two accent nails, I sponged Accessorize - Dream and then stamped with my favourite silver polish for stamping - a-england - Excalibur. I added some little rhinestones and sequins to make it look all ethereal and underwater-y and distinctly un-subtle. :)

Phew! That's a lot of photos! I was trying my best to catch the colour shift, but alas photography is not yet my strongest suit!

Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge Day 20 - Large Flowers

Hello!

Day 20 was Large flowers! I really love this mani! I don't actually want to take it off. :) I was inspired by P&K's The Blue Roses which I've mentioned before but it's definitely worth a mention again since it has to be the most perfect shade of blue ever! YUM!

I used:

China Glaze - Ahoy! (It doesn't have an exclamation mark in the title of the polish but I can't in good conscience write 'ahoy!' without an exclamation mark - you understand :))
P & K - The Blue Roses
Sinful Colors - Amethyst
P & K - Electric Dreams
Konad Special Stamping Polish - White and Black

I added the little gems with Seche and an orange stick. The roses are pretty similar to these by the fabulous Emerald Sparkled. I didn't copy them, but I remembered them later and I can't in good faith post these without crediting her :)
