Neon Ruffian with stars!

Hallo lovelies. How are you all? I'm good. I'm going to End of the Road festival in TWO DAYS and I'm SERIOUSLY excited :)

All of the polishes in this mani were a birthday gift from one of the lovely ladies in my Birthday club group. I love being in a birthday group! It's so much fun. I used Sonia Kashuk - Smoke and Ashes for the base - this is seriously the COOLEST silver I own. It's so shimmery and is kind of like a foil but is made up of teeny tiny microparticles that make it shimmer and glisten like no one's business. Then I did a coat of Sinful Colors - Dream On which my camera has utterly failed to capture. It's a lot more pinkish and a hell of a lot more neon that it looks here. Over the top of that I used Wet and Wild - Hollywood Walk of Fame which is different coloured stars, bar glitter and very sparse square glitter in a clear base. This was a bit of a PITA to be honest, but it's always the way with polishes with big glitter like this, right? The stars are a nightmare to get out and the ends poke up so I ended up scratching myself with my nails. Still, they look pretty right? :)

I really, really like ruffians! I hated them when I first saw them. I thought they looked weird but then I did one and on my own nails I was like... ahhwww yeah this is awesome! Has that ever happened to you? You hated something until you tried it? I love it anyway :)

SUNSHINE!!!! China Glaze Sun Worshipper with Cover Band Connect the Dots

There is no camera in the world that can capture the super bright neon of China Glaze Sun Worshipper. NONE! It's SO bright that it makes my hands look weird... like my fingertips are glowing or something. Especially in the sun. It's amazing!!! I got this colour as a birthday gift from one of the lovely girls in my Birthday Group - The gorgeous Spencer. She's just started her own blog which you can find here - make sure you check her out! She needs some new lovely followers to go with her lovely nails :D

I tried this colour alone first, but the formula was a pain in the bum and after three coats it was still streaky and the green staining from a colour I wore last week (ack!) still showed through, so I ended up layering it over two coats of China Glaze - White on White which sorted out all the formula issues and make it POP even more than it did before. I definitely recommend layering all China Glaze neons over white. It dries matte like most neons so you need a topcoat to make it shiny. Over the top of that I put one coat of Cover Band - Sticks and Stones. I have this on my toes at the moment too over Cult Nails - Evil Queen. I would show you but I am loathe to post pictures of toes uninvited. I think my toes are quite cute, but I know some people have feet issues so I will spare you my feets :)

Sticks and stones is SO COOL! When I bought this I never ever thought I'd like it as much as I do. I like glitters, that much is true, but normally I like to stamp them with something or just use them on a couple of nails but this one is awesome enough to stand up as nail art on its own. I think I like it more than Connect the Dots - it's just cleaner, a bit sparser and better put together I think. The only annoying thing was that the bar glitter lifts up occasionally and I get annoyed with it and bite it off... as you can see on my fourth finger there's a dent where a bit of bar glitter lifted and it bugged me so off it came.

ARGGHHH IT'S SO BRIGHT! And look! Sunshine! It's so hot here right now and I'm SO HAPPY about it! After months of grim rain and rubbishness it's finally brightened up and just in time for a festival this weekend and my birthday on Monday! YAY!

Orly - Lunar Eclipse and guest nails (my boyfriend!)

Hello!

I was feeling inspired by some pictures I took of a super clear night sky in Gambia, plus I've been wanting to use Orly - Lunar Eclipse for ages and ages! Ugh is so beautiful it hurts. Its a stunning blue with superfine blue and purple glitter so it changes in the light from blue to purple. I couldn't capture that very well in my pictures.

I just love how beautiful and glittery it is!!! The stamping is done with a-england - Excalibur which is my all time favourite silver stamping polish! Loveee it! :) This mani actually made its first appearance on the hand of my boyfriend, who's currently in an 80's hair metal band, complete with Bret Michaels facial expressions, spandex and mullet wigs (they TOTALLY don't take themselves seriously!). He wanted the nails on one of his hands painted 80's style so I willingly obliged:

Tee Hee. Apparently he got lots of compliments!

Mismatched Colourful nails and NAIL POP FLAKES!!!

Happy Sunday!

So today I  have some more mistmatched nails to show you. I was feeling a lot more colourful today so these are a bit of a riot, but that's how I roll :)

I got to use my new Essence - The Dawn is Broken which I have wanted for AGES and finally managed to get from Carli at Vintage Musings of a Modern Pinup's blog sale. I am SOOO happy I managed to get this. The only other place I could find it was on ebay and that was as part of the whole set. None of the other polishes in the set really appealed to me at all so I would have essentially been spending £30 ish on one polish! So thankyou Carli. You've made me super happy! I also got Zoya - Gloria, Nerd Laquer - Event Horizon, a Colour Club purple holo and some cute little frankens she sent me on top. The Event Horizon is especially cool and I can't wait to use it. I was most sold by the name, really. Event Horizon has to be the scariest film EVER MADE! Me and my band even have a song about it. I can't wait to try all of these polishes out and show you the results.

Phew!!! As you can see I smudged the stamping on my little finger a bit. I've been using China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat as my Seche has turned into a horrible, goopy mess. I tried using thinner and it didn't make a difference. I've got about a third of a bottle left, so I'm pretty annoyed about it. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any suggestions about how to fix it? I've ordered a new bottle because my although I like the China Glaze top coat, it's just too thin and smudges stamping really badly.

Obnoxious Neon Glittery Leopard Print and Hearts (phew!)

Oh my god.

I don't know what came over me or why I chose to do these ludicrously bright, totally tacky, SUPER AMAZING nails! They're so wrong, yet so, so right. They clash ridiculously with the grey, horrible outside, which I'm happy about, because someone needs to counteract the vileness that is OUTSIDE. It's hideous out there! I walked to uni this morning and was quite literally nearly blown away. Horrific. Anyway! Shield your eyes people, because these are BRIGHT!



Look at them. What possessed me?

I kind of really love them. They look amazing from a distance - really bright and I really like the colour with my skin tone. They look a bit blobby close up. This was kind of intentional because I didn't want the leopard print to be too perfect, I think it kind of looks better when it's a bit haphazard. I did the hearts with a nail art brush and the dots and white parts of the leopard with a dotting tool. I did the outside of the leopard print with one of those cheap nail art pens from ebay.

Here are the polishes I used:

China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy
Barry M - Matt White (it really annoys me that it's called 'matt' white and not 'matte' - why is it Matt? WHO is this Matt? And why is he so white
E.L.F - Purple sparkle
China Glaze - Snow Globe (for the glitter)
Unnamed Blue Ebay Nail Art Pen

I really love China Glaze polishes. The brushes are super easy to work with and the colours are AMAZING, but Flip Flop Fantasy is a little bit of a pain. It's really streaky and dries to a kind of almost matte/silk finish which I don't really like. It looks fine with a coat of Seche Vite on the top, but the finish is annoying. The only other China Glaze polish that has this finish is Tuned Up Turquoise which is such a beautiful colour, but it needs like four coats to make it look nice. Has anyone else had this with China Glaze or is it just me? It's only these two that do it, it's just annoying.

Sorry for blinding you with my totally seasonally inappropriate nails! I say BOO to convention!
